Stress increases the risk of memory loss among diabetics

by Kell

A symptom of stress is that it affects concentration.

Now a recent study in journal Diabetes Care shows that stress may increase the risk of memory loss for diabetics.

The study used 1,006 adults with Type-2 diabetes, aged 60-75.

Scientists have previously been uncertain of the link - but new research shows that suffering from high levels of stress can slow down brain functioning for people who suffer from diabetes.

The importance of this study is underlined by:

1. the pervasive levels of stress in the community,

2. the personal suffering and associated problems with memory problems, and

3. the fact that more than 2.5 million people in Britain currently suffer from diabetes.
