Reduce stress by turning off the TV

by James
(Scotland)

Hi Kell,
I reduce stress by turning off the TV.

Every time on turn on the box there is distressing news. It makes me stressed.

I find that turning off the TV reduces my stress and gives me more time for other things and spending time with children.

Cheerio
James

Hi James,
Thanks for you stress management tip.

When I look at the The Bureau of Labor Statistics which collects data on American Time Use it is no wonder we are very short on time.

I know you are from Scotland (so please excuse about the American data)

The average American spends 7.6 hours working and 2.5 hours doing household activities. And if you have a child under 6 you spend another 2 hours a day on childcare.

Add to this the average sleep/grooming is 8.6 hours - this leaves a meager few hours for other things.

No wonder we feel so time pressured!

Turning off the TV will give you alot more time and reduce the negative images that you can so often be exposed to - which can all add to chronic stress.

Good on you James.

Kell
