Laughter therapy for stress relief

by JK
(Alberta)

I have found that having a good laugh is great for stress relief. I find that after I put on some funny comedies that my stress seems to subside.

Cheers
JK

Hi JK
Thanks for your tip on stress reduction. Laughter is a great way to re-frame your stress or change the way that you may perceive the stress.

From a physical view, a good belly laugh tenses and relaxes your muscles - similar to a popular form of relaxation such as progressive muscle relaxation.

Also laughter can reduce your stress hormones such as epinephrine and cortisol. Similarly clinical studies have shown that a good belly laugh can elevate your immune system and help you to cope better with any aches and pains such as arthritis.

I write more about the benefits of laughter therapy and how these can reduce your stress.

All the best
Kell
