CBT reduces recurrent heart attacks and cardivascular events




CBT reduces recurrent heart attacks and other cardiovascular events is reported in a study to appear in this week's Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.

Using a randomized control trial of 362men and women who were discharged from Uppsala University hospital after a coronary heart disease event, 162 patients were randomly put into a CBT group.

The CBT group were had 41% lower rate of both fatal and non-fatal heart events, 45% few recurrent heart attacks and a significantly lower death rate than patients in the traditional care group.
